Safetynet Consulting Pty Ltd (“Safetynet”) recognises the importance of maintaining the privacy of individuals with whom we interact during ordinary business activities. As a minimum standard, Safetynet adheres to the requirements of the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000, and the
National Privacy Principles, which govern the way private sector organisations deal with personal information.
What Safetynet Considers to be Personal information
Personal information is any information or an opinion about you. It may range from the very sensitive (e.g. medical history, racial origin or criminal record) to basic information such as your contact details. It may include factual information as well as the opinion(s) of others (whether true or not)
about:
- Work performance
- Work experience
- Qualifications
- Psychometric Test results
- Any other information obtained by us in connection with your possible placement.
How Safetynet collects information
Personal information will be collected in many ways related to or in connection with your application(s) for various positions. Some of the ways we collect information are:
- Applications submitted for advertised positions
- General applications that are not in response to an advertised position
- Results of inquiries that we might make of former employers or work colleagues (whether positive or negative). Safetynet will only contact referees with your prior consent.
- Results of any competency or medical test
- Performance reviews (whether positive or negative)
- Complaints from clients regarding the conduct in the workplace
- Information relating to workplace accidents
Security of personal information
Safetynet may store the personal and sensitive information of candidates in hard copy form, electronically or both. Regardless of the form in which the information is stored Safetynet has procedures and processes in place to ensure that the information is stored securely and is only accessible by authorised
Safetynet personnel.
How Safetynet uses personal information
Generally your personal information will be used in connection with identifying and assessing you for potential work placements during the recruitment process. We may also use/disclose your personal information for:
- Ongoing assessment of your prospects
- Performance reviews
- Any test or assessment that you might be required to undergo
- Contacting you regarding Safetynet services or events that may enhance your skills and future prospects
- Managing any complaint, insurance claim or inquiry in which you are involved
- Insurance proposals that may require disclosure of personal information
- Where required to do so by law.
Safetynet will not disclose your personal information to external parties without your permission unless required to do so by law.
Who Safetynet discloses personal information to:
Safetynet may, in the course of carrying on its ordinary recruitment activities, disclose your personal information to:
- Potential employers (clients) with a view to placement
- Actual employers as may be requested from time-to-time
- Referees
- Other members of the Safetynet group
- Safetynet insurers
- Any person or organisation that can demonstrate a legal entitlement to the information
Obtaining access to and/or correcting personal information
The Privacy Act sets out your rights to see and have a copy of the personal information that we hold about you. If you wish to exercise your right of access, please contact our Privacy Officer. Safetynet reserves the right to impose an administration fee for providing access to personal information.
Any candidate that believes their personal details held by Safetynet are inaccurate or incomplete has the right to have the information amended. Once advised in writing, Safetynet will take reasonable steps to correct or update the information. If requested by you, Safetynet will destroy your personal
information.
